How it works

Develop rally endurance and recovery habits by sustaining a 20-ball multi-ball feeding sequence without stopping.

What you need

  • tennis racket
  • tennis balls
  • court
  • ball hopper

Your focus

Continuous multi-ball feeding mirrors the physical demands of long points and teaches players to maintain technique even when fatigued. Recovery steps between balls build the habit of returning to a ready position automatically. Completing the full sequence builds mental toughness and confidence in fitness.

1

Player stands at the baseline center mark in ready position.

2

Coach feeds balls continuously from the service line, alternating to the player's forehand and backhand corners.

3

After each shot, the player recovers to the center mark before the next feed arrives.

4

Count aloud each successful shot; celebrate reaching 20 consecutive balls and record the score for future comparison.

Goal

It's working when you get to ball 20 and your swing still looks the same as ball 1, tiredness is okay, falling apart isn't.

Helpful cues

  • Recover fast, reset your feet
  • Breathe out on contact
  • Eyes on the ball all the way to the strings

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Start with 10 balls and slower feeds; increase count by 2 each session.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Increase to 30 balls and vary feed depth so the player must sprint forward and back.
