How it works
Teach young players a simple reset ritual after a missed shot so they can return to play immediately.

- court
Your focus
Young players often freeze or get upset after errors, disrupting their focus. A physical reset routine (shake-off) gives them a concrete tool to let go of mistakes quickly. Repetition of this habit in low-pressure rallies builds automatic error-recovery.
Coach feeds a ball to the player; player attempts a groundstroke.
Regardless of whether the shot goes in or out, the player immediately shakes their non-racket hand as if shaking water off their fingers.
Player says 'Next ball!' aloud, returns to ready position, and prepares for the next feed.
Repeat 10 feeds; coach notes how quickly the player resets after each miss.
Goal
You've got it when you do your reset move after every miss and then smile or take a breath, you're ready to play the next point, not still thinking about the last one.
Helpful cues
