How it works
Build match-play competitive experience by playing short sets with specific game situations announced before each set begins.

Your focus
Short sets give players many more competitive repetitions than full sets, accelerating the development of match-play instincts. Announcing game situations before each set trains players to compete with context awareness. Repeated short-set exposure normalizes the competitive environment so players compete freely rather than with anxiety.
Coach announces a match-situation context before each set (e.g., 'You are down one set and this is the deciding set of the tournament').
Two players play a short set (first to 4 games, no-ad scoring); coach observes compete level, not technique.
After each set, coach provides a one-sentence observation about compete level only (e.g., 'You competed harder on big points than on routine points').
Players play four short sets per session, tracking their wins and reflecting on their compete level after the session.
Goal
It's clicking when the game situation actually changes how you play, you serve differently, move differently, and think about each point.
Helpful cues
- You can't control the outcome, only your effort on every ball
- The situation makes it important, play it like it matters
- Compete on every point the same, whether it's 0-0 or 3-3
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Remove the situation context and play straightforward short sets so players just focus on keeping score and competing.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Add a self-competition element: player tracks their 'effort score' (1-5 per point) and must maintain an average of 4+ to consider the session successful. No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
