How it works

Apply all four mindset principles (growth, process, failure-positive, pre-game routine) during a full competitive scrimmage evaluated by peers.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball
  • scrimmage vests
  • goals

Your focus

Integrating multiple mindset principles in live competition is the highest-level mindset challenge. Peer evaluation of mindset behaviors creates accountability and makes mental skills as coachable and observable as technical ones.

1

Play a full 11v11 scrimmage or large-sided game.

2

Each team has 2 mindset observers from the bench who watch for: growth responses to mistakes, process focus, recovering from failure, and pre-game readiness.

3

Observers record specific moments (positive and negative) on a tally sheet.

4

At the midpoint, observers share 2 positive mindset moments per team.

5

Post-game, each player receives a mindset score (1-5) from their peer observer.

6

Full debrief: how did mindset affect performance today?

Helpful cues

  • Your mindset is as observable as your technique, coaches and teammates see it
  • The score shows what happened; your mindset shows why
