Mirror Shadow Drill
Defending
Legend
- attacker
- defender
- cone line
- parallel movement lines
How it works
Mirror a partner's lateral movements for 15 seconds, staying between them and an imaginary goal.
What you need
- cones
Your focus
Defensive positioning requires continuous adjustment of body angle and lateral quickness. The shadow drill isolates these movements , staying goal-side, shifting weight, never committing.
Two players face each other 2 yards apart. Mark a line between them with a cone.
One player is the attacker, moving laterally side to side. One is the defender.
Defender must mirror every movement, staying on their side, never letting the attacker past.
Go for 15 seconds. Switch roles. Do 4 rounds each.
If solo: mirror yourself in a reflection or shadow a moving cone.
Goal
You've got it when you can mirror for 15 seconds without crossing your feet or getting beaten.
Helpful cues
- Stay low, bent knees, butt down
- Slide your feet, don't cross them
- Stay between the attacker and the goal
