How it works

Practice two-foot jumps and balanced landings to build foundational athletic movement.

What you need

  • cone (optional sprint marker)

Your focus

Athletic ability in soccer starts with jumping, landing safely, and accelerating immediately. This builds the knee bend and balance that underpin heading, 50-50 challenges, and explosive first steps.

1

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.

2

Jump straight up, reach both arms overhead.

3

Land softly on both feet, bend your knees, don't let them cave in.

4

The moment you land, sprint forward 5 yards.

5

Walk back and repeat. Do 8 jumps.

Goal

You've got it when your landing is quiet and you're sprinting before your heels touch the ground.

Helpful cues

  • Soft landing, quiet feet
  • Bend your knees when you land
  • Sprint the moment you touch down

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Do the jump without the sprint, just practice landing.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Add a ball, juggle once after landing before you sprint.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
