How it works
Train the habit of relocating to ball-side position immediately after a simulated pass, using cone markers as field reference points.
What you need

Your focus
Off-ball positioning is one of the hardest habits to build because players focus on the ball carrier. Solo reps with cone reference points train the automatic re-routing response , as soon as the ball moves, your feet move too , without needing teammates.
Set 4 cones marking the corners of a 10x10-yard box: upper-left, upper-right, lower-left, lower-right.
Stand in the center. Call out a cone color or number, that cone is where the 'ball' just moved.
Immediately relocate so you are on the ball-side of the center, shift toward the called cone and adjust your angle to keep an imaginary goal in your peripheral vision.
Hold the position for 1 second, then return to center.
Call a new cone. Work through all 4 options in random order. Complete 4 sets of 8 calls.
Goal
You've got it when your relocation happens before you consciously decide to move, the call triggers the move automatically.
Helpful cues
- React before you think, move first, adjust second
- Keep the goal in your vision on every rep
- Don't just shuffle sideways, shift your whole body angle to stay threatening
- Feet always move before the ball arrives at the next spot
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Use only 2 cones (left and right) and slow the pace. Call every 3 seconds.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Use a phone timer to call random tones and assign each tone to a cone. Forces true reaction rather than self-pacing.No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
