How it works
Practice the stack-and-cut movement, set up behind a screen then cut hard into open space.
What you need
- cones
- lacrosse stick
Your focus
The stack-and-cut is one of the most effective off-ball moves in lacrosse. Setting up behind a screen then cutting hard creates a momentary defensive mismatch , but only if the timing is right.
Place a screen cone 5 yards from the imaginary ball carrier.
Player starts 2 yards behind the screen cone (stacked).
Wait for signal. Then cut hard left or right, stepping off the screen.
Receive the imaginary pass in stride.
10 reps alternating left and right cuts.
Goal
You've got it when your cut is sharp and balanced on 8 of 10 reps, alternating left and right without losing speed.
Helpful cues
- Sell the stack, stand still and patient before you cut
- Step hard off the screen foot, that's where the separation comes from
- Catch in stride, don't wait for the ball
