Your focus
Most ground ball opportunities in a real game require you to scoop while moving at speed. Stopping to pick up the ball gives the defense time to close , this drill trains the full-speed scoop-and-go.
Parent rolls a ball 5 yards ahead of the player.
Player sprints to the ball, scoops it with two hands without slowing down.
Immediately sprint to an outlet cone 10 yards away.
No stopping between scoop and sprint.
8 reps. Track clean scoops vs bobbles.
Goal
You've got it when you scoop clean (no bobble) and reach the outlet cone without breaking stride on 6 of 8 reps.
Helpful cues
- Bend at the knees, not the waist, get low without losing speed
- Two hands on the stick through the scoop
- Don't look up until the ball is secured
