Your focus
Field vision begins with the habit of keeping eyes up during skill execution. Teaching this through a simple walk-through with a visual identification task creates the eye-up habit before speed and complexity are added.
Set up 6 cones in a course. Player walks through cradling.
A parent or partner stands at the far end holding up colored cards.
Player must call out the color they see while still navigating the cones.
They change colors randomly. Complete 4 trips.
Goal
You've got it when you call out the color before you reach the end of the course, eyes up while your feet are still moving, not stopping to look.
Helpful cues
- Your stick cradles while your eyes work, trust your hands
- Call the color as soon as you see it, don't wait until you're close
- Heads up is a habit you build slowly and use forever
