Your focus
Maximum effort on loose balls is one of the highest-impact habits in lacrosse. Training young players to sprint for every ball regardless of how close or how far establishes the effort standard their teams will need.
Coach rolls balls to various spots on the field at random intervals.
Every player on the field must sprint for the ball, regardless of position.
First player to the ball scoops and cradling away. Others celebrate the effort, not just the result.
Run for 5 minutes with 20+ ball rolls.
Goal
You've got it when you sprint for every ball regardless of whether you think you'll get there, one time you will, and it'll matter.
Helpful cues
- Every ball is YOUR ball until someone else has it
- Sprint with your stick ready, not your arms pumping
- The fastest sprinter doesn't always get there first, your start matters most
