How it works
Practice simple pass-or-hold decisions based on a visual teammate signal.
What you need

Your focus
Early decision-making training uses simple binary choices to build the habit of reading before acting. Color-coded signals give young players a concrete, stress-free framework for practicing decision-making.
Two receivers stand 8 yards away, wearing different colored pinnies (red and blue).
Ball carrier holds the ball until a coach calls a color.
Ball carrier passes to the player in that color.
Increase speed of color calls over 5 minutes until calls come in rapid succession.
Goal
You've got it when you look at your teammates before the pass is made, the visual read happens first, then the action.
Helpful cues
- Look at both players before the color is called
- React fast, the call is your signal to go
- Pass to the RIGHT person, accuracy over speed
