Your focus
Game-speed decision-making requires players to reduce their decision time without reducing decision quality. Two-second drills train the prioritization process under realistic time constraints.
Ball carrier receives a pass at the top of the restraining box.
Two defenders close out from different angles at game speed.
Ball carrier has exactly 2 seconds (coach counts) to shoot, pass, or drive, and must execute cleanly.
If still holding at 2 seconds, it counts as a turnover. Run 8 reps.
Goal
You're there when your first action after catching is the right one, within 2 seconds, correct choice, executed cleanly. That's the full package.
Helpful cues
- Your first option should be read before the ball arrives
- Two seconds is plenty of time if you've scanned early
- Commit to your read, a decisive wrong choice beats a hesitant right one
