Your focus
Video review accelerates decision-making development by making implicit choices explicit. Players who see their decisions on video can compare what they saw to what was actually available, closing the gap between perceived and actual decision quality.
Record a 6v6 scrimmage with a phone or tablet.
After each possession, pause at the ball carrier's key decision moment.
Coach asks: 'What did you see? What did you choose? What else was available?'
Player identifies one decision they would change and immediately re-runs the possession with that change. Do 5 possessions.
Goal
It's clicking when your decision review shows consistency, the same situations produce the same correct decisions across multiple possessions, not just lucky one-offs.
Helpful cues
- Describe what you saw, not what happened after
- Better decisions come from better vision, not better instincts alone
- The review isn't about blame, it's about building a faster decision map
