How it works
Develop body awareness and balance by walking while balancing a ball on the flat face of the stick head.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
Your focus
Proprioception and body control are foundational athletic skills that support all lacrosse technique. Balancing the ball forces young players to move slowly and deliberately, building the neural pathways for coordinated movement.
Player holds stick horizontally in front of them with the pocket facing up.
Place a ball in the pocket.
Player walks 15 yards without letting the ball fall out.
Repeat 4 times, increasing pace slightly each rep.
Goal
You've got it when you walk the full distance without the ball falling off the stick face, steady hands, steady eyes, steady pace.
Helpful cues
- Keep your eyes on the ball, not your feet
- Move smoothly, no jerky steps
- Hold the stick level, both ends the same height
