How it works

Execute an accurate shot on goal under a 5-second countdown with teammates watching and reacting loudly.

What you need

  • lacrosse stick
  • lacrosse ball
  • goal
  • cones

Your focus

Simulating high-stakes shooting pressure in practice reduces anxiety in real games. The crowd element from teammates creates a realistic pressure environment that trains composure in the final seconds of a game.

1

Player receives a pass at the top of the scoring area with 5 seconds left (coach counts down loudly).

2

Entire team watches and reacts vocally (cheering or groaning).

3

Player must shoot before the count reaches zero.

4

After each shot, player does a composure reset: breath, stance, say 'next.' Take 8 reps.

Helpful cues

  • Pick your corner before the ball arrives
  • The clock doesn't change your mechanics, it just feels like it does
  • After a miss, the reset routine is non-negotiable

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Give 8 seconds instead of 5; reduce crowd noise volume.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge
