How it works
Practice taking a breath and resetting before throwing to develop composure under mild pressure.
What you need
- lacrosse stick
- lacrosse ball
Your focus
Teaching young athletes a composure routine (breath → reset → action) gives them a lifelong tool for managing nerves and mistakes. Tying it to a lacrosse skill anchors the habit in sport-specific context.
Player and partner pair up 8 yards apart.
Before every pass, the passer must visibly take one breath and reset their stance.
Coach watches for rushed throws and reminds players to breathe.
After 15 passes each, debrief: did the breath change how the throw felt?
Helpful cues
- One breath before you throw, every time
- Rushing your pass is usually the reason it goes wrong
- Calm body, calm throw
