Your focus
Players who give up after losing the first ground ball battle lose possession permanently. Training immediate re-engagement after a contested loss builds the physical and mental toughness to stay in every play.
Two players compete for a ground ball. Coach rolls ball out.
On first contact, coach calls 'reset', both players must release the ball immediately.
Coach rolls the ball 5 yards away. Both players compete for it again.
The player who wins the second ground ball earns a point. Run 10 reps.
Goal
It's clicking when you win the ground ball on the second attempt at least 4 out of 5 reps, the first loss didn't take the fight out of you.
Helpful cues
- Losing the first battle doesn't mean losing the possession
- Reset your body and your mindset the moment you hear 'reset'
- Sprint to the second ball like it's the most important ball of the game
