Your focus
Resilience at young ages starts with simple 'keep going' habits. Normalizing dropped balls as recoverable events builds emotional bounce-back instincts before failure becomes threatening.
Players pair up and pass back and forth.
When a ball is dropped, the player must immediately say 'I've got it!' pick it up, and keep passing.
No reaction other than 'I've got it!' is allowed, no sighs, groans, or frustration.
Run for 5 minutes. Coach praises every 'I've got it!' moment.
Goal
You've got it when you pick the ball back up and immediately try again, no big reaction, no long pause. Drop it, get it, go again.
Helpful cues
- Say it like you mean it: 'I've got it!'
- The mistake is already gone, the next pass is the one that matters
- Happy feet when you pick it up, stay moving
