How it works
Scoop a stationary ball at full speed and immediately transition into a controlled carry through cones.
What you need
- 4 cones
- lacrosse stick
- 2 balls
Your focus
Game balls are never handed to you , they're on the ground or moving. Scooping at speed and immediately carrying through traffic is a fundamental sequence in both transition and ground ball situations.
Place 4 cones in a straight line 5 yards apart. Set a ball on the ground before cone 1.
Sprint from the start line, scoop the ball clean, and carry through all 4 cones.
At cone 4, set the ball down gently and jog back.
Repeat 8 times, alternating which side you approach the ball from.
Switch to left-hand carry for the final 4 reps.
Goal
You've got it when you scoop clean and carry through all 4 cones without a drop on 6 of 8 reps.
Helpful cues
- Bend knees, not waist, scoop from below
- Carry wide through the first cone to secure possession
- Look ahead after the scoop, not at the ball
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Place ball closer to start so there's more time to secure before the cones.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Have a parent roll the ball toward you at a slight angle, must adjust and still scoop clean. No account needed
