How it works

Throw accurately while moving left or right out of the pocket.

What you need

  • cones
  • football

Your focus

QBs rarely throw from a stationary pocket. Training throws on the move builds the body control and footwork needed to deliver accurate passes under real-game scramble pressure.

1

Mark a pocket zone (2 yards wide) with cones. Place two target cones 10 yards downfield.

2

Start in the pocket. On signal, roll out left.

3

Set feet, throw to the target before a 3-second count.

4

5 reps rolling left, 5 reps rolling right.

5

Track completions (throws landing within 1 yard of target).

Goal

You've got it when your throws land within 1 yard of the target cone regardless of which direction you rolled out.

Helpful cues

  • Set your feet before you throw, even one step is enough
  • Keep your eyes downfield, not on the ground
  • Hips point to your target at release

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back
