How it works
Develop team resilience by running a scrimmage where recovering quickly from setbacks earns bonus points that influence the competitive outcome.

- football
- flags
- cones
Your focus
Linking resilience to competitive outcome creates a tangible incentive for fast and genuine recovery from adversity. Players who see resilience scored alongside touchdowns develop the belief that how you respond to adversity actually matters to winning. This mindset shift produces teams that are difficult to break down regardless of early game adversity.
Run a 4v4 flag football scrimmage; touchdowns score 6 points.
After any negative play (turnover, flag pull on 4th down, missed catch), the affected team has 5 seconds to complete a collective resilience reset: all players clap twice and call Next play.
If completed within 5 seconds, the team earns 1 bonus resilience point.
Final score combines touchdowns and resilience points; highlight which team was more resilient.
Goal
You've got it when your team bounces back from a setback to score a resilience point, respond with a positive play, not a negative spiral.
Helpful cues
- Resilience points are real points, they affect the outcome
- The clap and call is a commitment to the team, not just a ritual
- Teams that reset fastest lose fewer close games
