Your focus
Clock pressure in a two-minute drill creates distractions that collapse focus for unprepared players. Practicing specifically under clock pressure builds the concentration routines needed to execute cleanly in exactly those moments. Players who can focus on technique details while managing time become the most reliable performers in late-game situations.
Set up a two-minute drill with offense down by 6; a visible clock counts down.
Before each play, the QB leads a 5-second focus window: all offensive players take one breath and confirm their assignment.
Run the play; coach evaluates route precision and execution quality specifically (not just outcome).
Identify the play where focus broke down most: what distracted the player and what can prevent it?
Helpful cues
- The clock is background noise, your assignment is the foreground
- Five-second focus reset before every snap in the two-minute drill
- Focus on what you control: your route, your release, your assignment
