How it works
Build flag football endurance through an interval ladder that progressively decreases recovery time to simulate the most demanding game pacing.
Your focus
Advanced players must maintain performance quality as recovery windows shrink during fast-paced flag football games. A ladder that reduces rest simulates the endurance demand of a team playing at maximum pace with minimal substitutions. Building endurance through progressive overload prepares players to maintain technique quality under real game fatigue.
Sprint 20 yards, recover 25 seconds, repeat. Run 3 reps at this recovery level.
Sprint 20 yards, recover 20 seconds, repeat. Run 3 reps.
Sprint 20 yards, recover 15 seconds, repeat. Run 3 reps.
Sprint 20 yards, recover 10 seconds, repeat. Run 3 reps. Track sprint time deterioration across the ladder.
Goal
You've got it when the shorter recovery windows don't collapse your sprint quality, you're still pushing hard even with less rest.
Helpful cues
- Efficient breathing technique: nose in, mouth out
- Stay relaxed between sprints, tension wastes oxygen
- Your conditioning shows in the last set, not the first
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Start with 30-second recovery intervals and reduce by 5 seconds per level.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Replace flat sprints with route-running sprints (cut at 15 yards before finishing through 20) to add cognitive demand under fatigue. No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
