How it works

Build basic cardiovascular endurance by jogging the full length of the flag football field at a comfortable pace.

What you need

  • cones

Your focus

Young athletes need to develop the aerobic base that supports sustained play across a full flag football game. A simple end-to-end jog at a comfortable pace introduces endurance work in a non-threatening context. Developing this base early prevents premature fatigue from limiting skill expression late in games.

1

Mark the full length of the flag football field with cones at each end zone.

2

Players jog from end zone to end zone at a conversational pace (they should be able to speak while jogging).

3

After reaching the far end zone, players walk for 30 seconds to recover before jogging back.

4

Complete 3 full trips (6 lengths); coach monitors breathing and effort quality.

Goal

You've got it when you jog the full field length without stopping, steady pace, breathing managed, start to finish.

Helpful cues

  • Breathe through your nose and mouth together
  • Settle into a rhythm, do not sprint
  • Recover on the walk, ready to go on the jog

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Do 2 lengths and allow longer 45-second recovery walks.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Add one sprint length at the end of each jogged set.

Build a practice plan

Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
