How it works

Build competitive drive by racing a teammate through an identical route and competing for who catches the thrown ball.

What you need

  • football
  • flags
  • cones

Your focus

Competition between teammates in a structured format builds the intensity needed in live games. Players who regularly compete for the same ball in practice develop habits that show up in game coverage battles. Controlled competition raises everyone performance floor.

1

Two receivers line up side by side and run identical 10-yard out routes simultaneously.

2

QB throws one ball to the better break; receiver who gets the cleanest fastest break typically wins.

3

Both players compete for the catch without contact; whoever catches it wins the rep.

4

Run 6 head-to-head route races per pair; rotate QBs and route types.

Goal

You're there when you beat your teammate to the ball on the route race, not just running it, winning it.

Helpful cues

  • Get out of the break faster than your teammate
  • Race to separate, not just to complete the route
  • Want the ball enough to earn it with your feet

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

QB pre-announces which receiver they will throw to so players compete only at the catch point.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Add a defender covering both receivers so competitive drive must overcome real coverage.

Build a practice plan

Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
