How it works
Develop competitive drive by executing a deficit comeback scenario where each player individual drive must push the team forward.
What you need
- football
- flags
- cones
Your focus
Competitive drive in flag football means continuing to find a way when the situation is difficult. Players who mentally check out in deficit situations betray their teammates. Practicing in adversity creates reference memories needed to perform in real deficits.
Offense is down by 12 with three drives left and must score twice to win the drill.
Each player is told privately that the team needs their best personal competitive performance.
Run the full drives; coach observes individual competitive drive indicators including route effort, flag protection intensity, and communication urgency.
After each drive, coach names one player who showed outstanding competitive drive and explains what they saw.
Helpful cues
- Down 12 means your competitive drive must double
