How it works
Build resilience by successfully executing a drive after starting in a deficit, practicing composure when the pressure is highest.
What you need
- football
- flags
- cones
Your focus
Resilience in flag football means continuing to execute with precision even when the score is against you. A comeback drive tests whether players can separate their emotional state from their technical performance. Repeated successful comeback experiences build the belief that deficits can be overcome.
Set up a 4v4 flag football scenario: offense is down by 6 with one drive left.
Run the full drive; coach observes composure and resilience indicators (no dropped heads, consistent effort, communication quality).
After the drive (regardless of outcome), coach names two resilience moments that helped the offense.
Run 3 comeback drives; success is defined as sustained composure throughout, not necessarily scoring.
Goal
You're there when your team scores from a deficit, staying calm under pressure and executing the drive anyway.
Helpful cues
- Down 6 is just a starting point, your composure decides what happens next
- Play the next play, not the scoreboard
- Resilience looks like crisp execution even when you're losing
