Red zone scenarios naturally raise competitive stakes, teaching players to elevate their intensity when the game is on the line. Repetition in high-pressure short-yardage situations builds the habit of competing hardest in the moments that matter most. Players learn that compete level determines red zone success as much as skill level.
Set up a 10-yard red zone; 3 offensive players vs 3 defensive players.
Offense has 4 plays to score; defense's goal is a shutout.
Each scoring play earns 2 team compete points; each defensive stop earns 2 points.
Run 4 rounds, rotating who starts on offense; track cumulative compete points.
Goal
You're there when you score or prevent a score in the red zone through genuine competitive effort, not gifted, earned.
