How it works
Build competitive intensity by having players race to pull flags in a fun, low-pressure game scenario.
What you need
- football
- flags
- cones
Your focus
Young players learn that competing hard is fun and rewarding when the stakes feel real. Chasing a moving target with a flag develops urgency and effort habits. Celebrating effort over outcome builds a compete mindset early.
Set up a 10-yard box with cones and pair players, one ball carrier, one defender.
Ball carrier runs freely inside the box trying to protect their flags for 10 seconds.
Defender works to pull at least one flag before time expires.
Switch roles after each round and track who pulled the most flags across five rounds.
Goal
You've got it when you sprint for every flag on the ground, not jogging over, actually racing.
Helpful cues
