How it works

Test and train all-around athleticism through a multi-directional circuit that mirrors the varied demands of a full flag football play.

What you need

  • cones
  • football
  • flags

Your focus

Flag football requires athletes to accelerate, decelerate, jump, and cut in sequence within a single play , this circuit replicates all of those demands. Performing movements at full speed with minimal rest mimics the energy system demands of a competitive flag football game. Advanced athletes are challenged to maintain technique quality as fatigue builds.

1

Set up 4 cones in a 10-yard square with a ball at the center cone.

2

On whistle: player sprints to cone 1 (forward), shuffles to cone 2 (lateral), backpedals to cone 3, then sprints through cone 4.

3

After cone 4, player catches a pass from the coach and immediately performs a juke move before crossing a finish line.

4

Rest 60 seconds between reps; complete 5 full reps tracking time.

Goal

You're doing it right when you handle every direction in the circuit without hesitating, forward, backward, lateral all feel natural.

Helpful cues

  • Transition cleanly between movements, no extra steps
  • Keep your flags protected through the juke
  • Attack the finish, don't coast at the end

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Remove the catch-and-juke at the end and just finish through cone 4.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

Add a live flag defender who enters after the player catches the ball.

Build a practice plan

Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents.

This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.

After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
