How it works
Build resilience and persistence by completing a challenging dribbling course despite repeated setbacks.
What you need
- field hockey stick
- field hockey ball
- cones
Your focus
Resilience is built through repeated encounters with difficulty and the practice of continuing anyway. A challenging dribble course creates natural setbacks (missed gates, lost balls) that test the ability to keep going. Players who complete the drill develop confidence in their persistence.
Set up a moving with the ball course with 8 tight gates; players attempt to pass through all 8.
If a gate is missed, player must go back one gate and retry.
Time is not the measure, completion is the goal, regardless of how long it takes.
Award resilience tokens for every gate attempt after a reset (effort, not success).
Helpful cues
- Every reset is a choice to keep going, make the right choice
- Resilience looks like trying gate 7 for the fifth time
- Grit isn't about not failing; it's about not quitting

Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
