Your focus
Elite shooters use pre-performance routines to prime focus before high-pressure executions. A consistent routine prevents attention from drifting to outcome or pressure during the shot. Players who develop a focus routine perform more consistently across pressure conditions.
Each player develops a 5-second pre-shot routine: look at target, choose corner, reset stick, take breath, shoot.
Practice the routine with 20 shots from varying positions.
Compare accuracy with vs without the focus routine across two sessions.
Identify the moments in the routine where focus was easiest and hardest to maintain.
Helpful cues
- Same routine every shot, consistency is the goal
- See the corner you want, then shoot to it
- Routine anchors your focus when pressure tries to pull it away
