Your focus
Transition moments , winning possession and immediately attacking , require the fastest decisions in field hockey. Restricting touches forces players to pre-process their decisions. Midfield-specific focus develops the zone where the game is most often won and lost.
Set up a 30x25-yard game with three zones; midfield zone has a 2-touch restriction.
Players must decide quickly in the midfield zone before entering the attacking zone.
Award bonus points for scoring within 10 seconds of winning possession.
Coach reviews decisions after each attack sequence.
Goal
You've got it when your midfield transition decision happens within one touch, feel the press, make the call, move the ball.
