Your focus
Attacking third decision-making is the most critical phase in field hockey. Reading which option is best , shot, pull back, or cross , and executing it quickly determines whether attacks succeed. Three-option training mirrors the complexity of real game scenarios.
Player runs at goal with ball from the wing; three teammates positioned: one at the far post, one at the top of the circle, one at penalty spot.
Coach signals which player is 'closed' (arm raised) just as the ball carrier enters the circle.
Player must choose between the two remaining open options instantly.
Execute the chosen pass or shot; run 15 reps with different combinations closed.
Goal
Success is picking the best of the three options in the crossing situation, not just any option, the one that creates the real chance.
