How it works
Improve hand-eye coordination and body control by alternating between juggling the ball on the stick and receiving aerial balls.
What you need
- field hockey stick
- field hockey ball
Your focus
Juggling develops the delicate touch needed for elite-level ball control and body awareness around the stick. Receiving aerial balls requires spatial awareness and whole-body coordination. Alternating between the two challenges builds adaptable coordination.
Player juggles the ball on the flat face of the stick for 10 touches.
Partner throws a gentle aerial ball; player receives it with the stick.
Player juggles again for 10 touches before the next aerial.
Complete 5 cycles; count maximum consecutive juggles as a personal record.
Goal
You're there when you alternate between juggling and receiving without dropping the ball more than once in a full set.
Helpful cues
- Small taps, control the height of each juggle
- Move your feet to get under aerial balls
- Cushion the ball on reception, absorb the pace
