How it works
Build teamwork and non-verbal communication by having pairs mirror each other's dribbling movements.
What you need
- field hockey sticks
- field hockey ball
- cones
Your focus
Mirroring requires constant attention to a partner, building the habit of awareness within a team. Non-verbal communication develops a complementary layer to verbal cues. Fun, low-pressure format makes teamwork enjoyable for the youngest age group.
Pairs face each other 5 yards apart, both with a ball and stick.
One player is the leader and dribbles in any direction; partner mirrors the movement as a reflection.
After 60 seconds, swap leader and mirror roles.
End with free choice, players decide together which movements to do.
Helpful cues
- Watch your partner's whole body, not just the ball
- Stay connected, don't let the gap grow
- The best teams move together
