How it works
Sprint between the four corner spacing positions to build awareness of proper floor spacing.
What you need
- basketball
- cones
Your focus
Spacing is the most undercoached concept in youth basketball. Physically running the four spots builds the spatial awareness that makes proper floor spacing instinctive in games.
Mark the four corner spots of a half court with cones.
Start at corner 1. Sprint to corner 2 (opposite corner), then wing left, then wing right.
Always stay spread, never cut through the paint.
Complete the circuit 5 times. Rest 30 seconds between each.
Focus on stopping balanced at each cone before moving.
Goal
You've got it when you sprint each side of the circuit and arrive balanced at every cone without breaking stride.
Helpful cues
- Stay wide, the paint is not your friend when you don't have the ball
- Arrive balanced, ready to shoot
- Don't drift, sprint to the spot, then stop
