How it works
Build shooting endurance by making a set number of shots from multiple spots without resting between attempts.
What you need
- basketball
- hoop
- cones
Your focus
Players must shoot accurately when fatigued , not just in fresh, stationary settings. Continuous movement between shots builds the cardiovascular fitness to maintain shooting form late in games. This drill also develops the habit of sprinting to a spot and setting feet quickly.
Set 5 cones around the arc. Player must make 2 shots from each cone before moving to the next.
Between cones, player sprints to the next spot, no walking.
After completing all 5 cones (10 makes total), player sprints a full-court baseline and back, then repeats.
Complete 3 full cycles. Track time per cycle and monitor form degradation under fatigue.
Goal
It's working when you make the required number from every spot, being tired doesn't change the standard, it tests you against it.
Helpful cues
- Sprint between shots, the drill rewards the fastest shooter
- Set your feet before you catch, no stepping into the shot after you're tired
- Focus on form most when you're most tired, that's when it matters most
