How it works
Build team endurance and court conditioning by running continuous 3-player weave for a timed duration.
What you need
- basketball
- hoop
- full court
Your focus
The 3-player weave is both a skill drill and an endurance builder that keeps all three players running the full court repeatedly. Continuous running in a pattern that requires coordination and communication builds the basketball-specific fitness that general conditioning cannot replicate. Teams that run this drill become noticeably fitter within 2–3 weeks.
Three players run the standard 3-player weave pattern from baseline to baseline.
After the layup, the three players continue back immediately without stopping, new weave in the other direction.
Run continuously for 5 minutes. If a pass is missed or the layup is missed, the group gets a 5-second deduction from their score.
Track total number of successful trips (layup made and weave completed) in 5 minutes.
Goal
Success is running the full weave duration without the pattern breaking down, every player still in the right lane, still making clean passes, at the end.
Helpful cues
- Pass and sprint to the outside, the weave only works if you're moving
- Don't slow down when you're tired, that's when the drill earns you fitness
- Fill the lane, nobody jogs in a weave
