Your focus
Full-court 1v1 requires sustained effort on both ends without rest , the effort standard is unforgiving. Players who compete at 100% for the entire length of the court develop the physical and mental stamina for late-game situations. This drill identifies who has elite competitive effort when no one can hide.
Offense starts at one baseline with ball; defense starts at half-court.
On 'Go,' offense attacks full court against live defense. Defense must close the head-start gap.
Play possession until score or stop. Both players must sprint back for second possession from the other end.
Complete 5 full-court possessions per pair. Track who wins more and who competes hardest on the losing possessions.
Goal
Success is competing at full intensity for the entire full-court possession, no mental breaks, no jogging stretches. If effort determined it, did you win?
Helpful cues
- Maximum effort means you're tired when it's over, that's the point
- Your best effort on the possession you're losing is the real test
