Your focus
Free throws in games are lost because of competitive pressure, not physical inability. Practicing free throws in competitive formats , where something is on the line , trains players to perform when it matters. Players who consistently make pressure free throws do so because they've competed under pressure in practice.
Pair players with similar shooting ability. Each must complete a conditioning sprint before shooting.
Both shoot 2 free throws. Player with more makes wins the round, tie goes to a sudden-death third shot.
Losing player does a baseline-to-baseline sprint before the next round.
Best of 7 rounds. Track score and track consistency under fatigue.
Goal
Success is making both free throws under pressure when your team needs it, the conditioning and the crowd got to you, but your mechanics didn't change.
Helpful cues
- Same routine every time, don't let the stakes change your process
