Your focus
1v1 situations are the purest test of competitive drive because there is no teammate to rely on. Players who learn to compete with full intensity 1v1 translate that drive to team settings. Every great player has a deep reservoir of competitive instinct built through drills exactly like this.
Two players compete in a 1v1 half-court game, alternating who starts with the ball.
Each possession is live until a score or defensive stop. Score 1 point per make.
After 5 possessions, the player with more points wins the round.
Play best of 5 rounds. Track score and effort level throughout.
Goal
It's working when you bring the same intensity to possession 5 as possession 1, each one matters, regardless of the score.
Helpful cues
- Go as hard on possession 5 as you did on possession 1
- Defense wins, make them earn every basket
- Lose with your chin up; win with a handshake
