How it works

Demonstrate coachability by immediately applying a coach's correction on the very next attempt.

What you need

  • basketball
  • hoop

Your focus

Receiving feedback and applying it right away is the fastest path to improvement. Players who treat every coach correction as a gift develop skills much faster than those who resist feedback. Practicing this mindset makes correction feel natural and empowering.

1

Player attempts a layup or jump shot. Coach provides one specific correction.

2

Player must repeat the exact correction out loud: 'Got it, I'll bring my elbow in.'

3

Player immediately attempts the same shot applying the correction.

4

If improved, coach acknowledges it. If not, coach gives same correction, player tries again. Do 10 rounds.

Helpful cues

  • Echo the correction, it helps your brain lock it in
  • One thought per rep, don't try to fix everything at once
  • Thank the coach, feedback is a gift

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Give the correction before the attempt rather than after.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge
