How it works
Give each young wrestler the experience of leading the team warm-up to build confidence and communication skills.

- wrestling mat
Your focus
Leading a group warm-up requires a child to project their voice, make decisions, and take responsibility for their peers , all foundational leadership behaviors. Rotating the role ensures every wrestler experiences leading regardless of perceived status on the team. Early positive leadership experiences build confidence that carries into competitive situations.
Coach assigns one wrestler as the warm-up leader for the day's practice.
The leader selects and calls 5 warm-up activities from a posted list (jogging, jumping jacks, hip escapes, etc.).
The leader demonstrates each activity and calls out start/stop commands while teammates follow.
After the warm-up, teammates give the leader one specific compliment about their leadership.
Helpful cues
- Big voice, your teammates need to hear you
- Demo it first, then call the start
- Leaders look at their team, not at the ground
