How it works
Develop awareness of platform angle and direct forearm passes to a specific target zone consistently.

Your focus
Many beginners make contact with the ball but send it in random directions because they have not learned how platform angle controls trajectory. Understanding that the arms act as a ramp that redirects the ball gives players a mental model for self-correction. Target-based passing builds the precision needed for serve-receive.
Place a cone or hula hoop at the Zone 3 setter position on the net.
Coach tosses from Zone 4 and Zone 1 while passer works to redirect the ball toward the target cone using platform angle adjustment.
After each pass, passer names their platform angle correction: 'I tilted left' or 'I need to angle more toward the net.'
Track successful passes within 6 feet of the target cone; goal is 8 of 10 in the final round.
Goal
It's clicking when your passes land in the same target zone 6 out of 10 times, not perfect, but aimed, not random.
Helpful cues
- Point your platform at the target, not at the ball
- Angle the ramp to the setter, let the ball roll off
- No arm swing, angle does the directing
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Toss from directly in front of the passer so they only practice straight-ahead angle before adding direction changes.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Passer receives two consecutive tosses, one from Zone 4, one from Zone 1, and must redirect both to the same target. No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
