Your focus
Champions are distinguished not by avoiding adversity but by responding to it more effectively than their opponents. Deliberate exposure to simulated adversity in practice removes the novelty of those situations in real matches, reducing their psychological impact. Players who have practiced responding to pressure with composure execute a fundamentally different mental game than those who only train in ideal conditions.
Coach designs three adversity scenarios tailored to the player's known pressure points: e.g., starting a set down 0-3, serving at 30-40 in a tiebreak, or playing after a bad line call.
Player starts each scenario at the designated score with full competitive intensity, as if it were a real match.
Between points in the adversity scenario, player must use their between-point routine and articulate one process focus cue aloud.
After completing all three scenarios, player writes a 2-sentence post-match debrief: what mindset shift enabled their best response, and what they will use next time.
Helpful cues
- The scoreboard doesn't decide the outcome, your next shot does
- You've practiced being here, you're ready
- Compete harder when it's hardest

Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
