How it works
Develop advanced coachability by receiving a technique correction mid-session via video review, then immediately demonstrating the correction in a live hitting block.
What you need
- tennis racket
- tennis balls
- court
- video device
Your focus
Video feedback is increasingly used in elite junior development, and players who can interpret and apply visual feedback are more coachable than those who can only respond to verbal cues. Seeing the error on video removes subjectivity and makes the correction concrete, speeding uptake. Immediate post-video hitting creates a tight feedback loop between seeing, understanding, and doing.
Player hits 10 forehands crosscourt while coach records on a device; no feedback is given during the hitting block.
Coach and player review two or three clips together, with the coach asking 'what do you notice?' before offering their own observation.
Coach gives one specific technical correction; player describes in their own words what they will change.
Player immediately hits 10 more forehands and coach scores improvement on a 1-5 rubric (5 = correction fully applied); target is 4 or above.
Helpful cues
- Watch your own video like you're coaching yourself
- Describe the change in your own words, that's how it gets into your body
- Speed of implementation is a skill, the faster you apply it, the better you get
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier
Strip it back
Skip the video and have the coach give a verbal correction with a physical demonstration before the player tries again.UpLVL it
Add the next challenge
Add a second camera angle and require the player to identify their own technical issue before the coach says anything. No account needed
Build a practice plan
Add drills, keep the plan in this browser, then share a link with your staff or parents. This library helps you find the right drill. Inside UpLVL the right drill finds the player.
After every practice, UpLVL automatically surfaces the drills each player needs to work on most. See it for yourself.
