How it works
Execute a rehearsed team shape pattern, then transition to live play on a trigger signal requiring immediate tactical decisions.

Your focus
Decision-making in games requires players to shift from structured patterns to live choices instantaneously. This drill trains the cognitive switch between organized shape and reactive decision-making , the exact transition that happens at every ball contact in a match.
Coach walks through a specific 6v0 shadow play pattern (e.g., overlapping left back, third-player run through middle).
Team runs the pattern twice at walking speed, twice at game speed.
On the third game-speed run, coach shouts 'LIVE', defenders enter and play continues without the pattern.
Players must make live decisions based on what's in front of them.
Debrief: who transitioned to live decision-making fastest? What decisions were made?
Repeat with a different pattern trigger.
Goal
You're there when the transition to live play is instant on the trigger, no pause to think, just execution of the right decision within one second of the signal.

- Pattern gives you a starting position, your brain decides what happens next
- Stay calm at 'LIVE', scan before your next touch
- The fastest decision-makers are the ones who scan during the pattern, not after
