How it works

Execute precise ball control moves, stop, drag-back, Cruyff turn, in a circuit under time pressure.

What you need

  • cones
  • soccer ball
  • poles

Your focus

Technical mastery in tight spaces separates average from elite ball control. Performing moves repeatedly under time pressure ingrains muscle memory, making these controls automatic in high-pressure match situations.

1

Set up a 15-yard circuit with 5 cone stations.

2

Station 1: inside-outside touch through two cones (1 yard apart).

3

Station 2: stop-turn with the sole of the foot and dribble back.

4

Station 3: Cruyff turn at a cone and accelerate.

5

Station 4: drag-back move, switch direction.

6

Station 5: juggle 5 times, then carry to finish. Time the full circuit; target under 40 seconds.

Goal

It's clicking when each move in the circuit feels automatic and you can accelerate out of it, the technique stops slowing you down.

Helpful cues

  • Every touch should be intentional, know where it's going
  • Use different parts of your foot for different situations
  • Stay balanced through every turn, don't lean back

Adjust the challenge

Make it easier

Strip it back

Players walk through the circuit first; remove the time target.

UpLVL it

Add the next challenge

A passive defender follows 2 yards behind, player must use techniques to stay ahead.
